Who doesn’t like to feel safe? I relate to this especially when I listen or read the daily newscasts of our country and the overall world. It’s an unsafe world. It is a world where the evil and ugliness of mankind is focused on. There may not be a whole lot I can do about the overall nation and world except to try my best to remain safe and demonstrate its importance to the surroundings and folks of my imminent daily world.
Our life and its basic functions have focused on safety or our well being and protection. We talk to our children about it; we have safety drills at home, at school, at work. It has become a topic that is “politically correct” and “personally correct” as far as I’m concerned.
People do not want to risk their safety and quite honestly, one cannot fault them for it. I for one, want to be safe and protected and know where I can be secure and find refuge.
The Psalmist David, wrote more than once about it. Although, he was a King chosen by God; he personally made misjudgments in his life and had to hide and literally run! He had many enemies so he sought protection and safety. “Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.”
He knew who the Lord was to him. “I said to the Lord, ‘You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.'” David loved God. He told him, “Lord you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.”
David knew that God watched and protected not just him, but his family and all that was his. God was his defender, his sentry, his shepherd, his shield, his armament, his safeguard. And, we could go on. He knew he was safe in the Lord!
And, like David, I too, trust the Lord for his safety and protection; and I have asked him to consistently protect me and all that is mine; for we live in perilous times. At night before slumber I ask God to keep my family and myself safe as we sleep. I ask him to remember me and to grant me peace and rest and I thank him for the day.
I can say as David did, “I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”
I can be glad without wonder in my heart and rejoice for “my body rests in safety.” When our body rests in safety, aside from all the unrest in the world; we are at peace! And, in my view, that’s what really matters!
Peace!
Thank you sis…
