We Are Loved

This is the time of year when one goes into a store and sees an assortment of ideas and gifts to give to loved ones.  The prominent colors of red, white, pink, flowers, plants and the variety of chocolates and hearts is heartening (if you will) at best.  The thoughts of love, caring and sharing words to loved ones through cards is endearing.  We’ve been taught that love never fails and true love makes all the difference in life.  And, it does

My 5-year-old grandson expresses his love to me when I least expect it. And, when he does, my heart flows with the warmth of his hugs. His usual expression, is simply “Grandma, I love you.” And, I respond, “I love you too.”  He smiles.  During those times he is being reprimanded for a “no-no” and we discuss the situation, he’ll ask me, “do you still love me?” “But, of course, I still love you.”  And, this prompts the opportunity to again share the love of God for us.

The Lord’s love for us cannot be equally matched.  His love is unreserved.  God’s love is not founded on us; our talents, skills and abilities.  No, the wonderful thing is it is set in Him.  It is who He is and His willingness to give it to us.  God’s love is real and there is enough for every single one of us.  His love is so profound and immeasurable.

Do you know how deep His love is?  Read and meditate upon the love letter He has given us.  It will enhance our understanding of who He really is. “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”  Zephaniah 3:17   “Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.”  Psalm 36:5-6

As I write this, I’m overwhelmed with His love for me.  Oh, but we are loved by an amazing God! It has certainly made a difference in my life.
