“I’m Coming!”

This morning, I rushed out to feed the horses. It’s been raining, and I wanted to beat the next set of raindrops. I hadn’t checked as I normally do to see where in the fields the horses were; so, all I did was call out, “I’m coming” and the next thing I hear are the hoof beats of the horses running from the south end of the fields to the north end where I was.
I stopped and watched them run with such grace. Their agile legs and flying manes were a sight to behold. “What beauty,” I thought and I savored the moment. I was touched by the sight of the smaller filly, running alongside her mother with refinement and confidence. The feeling in that moment was luxurious; a treasure to behold and I thanked God for it.
I stood there in awe at the creation of God. And, then I thought these horses know what it means when I call out, “I’m coming”. Sometimes, when I look out from the kitchen window I see them waiting by the fencing with expectation. They wait in anticipation that the door will soon open and I will come out to them to give them what they await.
This is the moment God spoke to me, “Do you wait for me like these creatures? Do you anticipate my calling out, ‘I’m coming’? Do you wait with such eagerness? Will you come running as they when I call?” Oh, it was a blessed moment to remind me of the grandeur of God and that one day too, He’ll call out, “I’m coming!” I could only thank Him in that moment to remind me, that, yes, I wait, sometimes not as patiently, nor as eagerly as I should but, I promised to work on it all the more.
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Matthew 24:44
