Life is enriched by our learning experiences. It is also fascinating how our minds and their memory bank can swiftly bring to life reminders of past experiences. Sometimes they are those incidents that when we actually went through them we thought our world had ended. But, in retrospect we “see” they were but stepping stones to better things; strength of character, understanding, wisdom, consideration for others and changes of the heart. The list is continuous.
I gather that perhaps this is why the Lord encourages us to be thankful in everything. Ephesians 5:20 “And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” It’s not an uncomplicated thing to be thankful for hard times we go through. It’s difficult to accept them and that’s the reality. However, it is by faith that we can say, “I may not understand the why of what I am going through but, I am willing to trust you and believe that you are there to help me through all of this.” And, He does!
I have to trust that whatever it is I go through, it is but for my good. Trust me, this is difficult, but I’ve decided that God is my true source of refuge and all he does and allows is for me to grow, change and move on. This is the “rejoicing always,” and “praying always” and “thanking always” kicking in by faith!
