This morning was one of those where I just did not want to get up from the warmth and comfort of my sweet bed. I opened my eyes before the alarm and just felt the exhaustion in my entire being; physically, emotionally and in spirit. I spoke to the Lord quietly and told him, “I am so weary and just plainly zonked!” “But,” I continued, “I am getting up in Your Name and trusting in Your strength to see me through this day You have given me.” And, I did!
In the 31st Psalm, David was feeling stressful and he wanted God to stop those who were unjustly creating troublesome times for him. He was tired, and worn out. So he went to God as many of us do, during such times. “O Lord, I have come to you for protection…save me, for you do what is right.” God is just and always does what is right for us. Why wouldn’t he? He loves you and me!
There are times in our life where we feel that our world caves in on us. It’s like a whirlwind that hits us so unexpectedly and it affects us physically and emotionally. This is when we have to stop and talk not just to God but to our hearts as well.
We must remind ourselves as David wrote in verses 23 and 24: “Love the Lord, all his faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full. Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:23-24
God will preserve us. His strength will sustain us. It is what will keep us through weariness, trying times, lack of faith, fear, and challenges.
My strength comes from the Lord, that’s what I relied on this morning as I spoke to him. I don’t know about you, but I can’t do it without him! I can face the day because God is right there with me; I trust him and believe this promise with all of my heart. Perhaps to some that may seem elementary, but to me it’s heartfelt reality!
