Wait and Be Hopeful!

Last night was one of those nights that I tossed and turned and couldn’t get the full rest I wanted and needed. My mind was moving and moving faster than necessary and just thinking of things I have no control of. I was in “worry” mode, and it got me nowhere. Have you ever had one of those nights?
I was up before the alarm and just got down to the morning business of picking up, starting coffee, throwing in first load of laundry, letting the dogs out, cleaning up after them, feeding them, making breakfast and lunches for the kids and finally getting them up to get dressed and ready to be driven to school bus stop. I was on a roll and it’s amazing what I got done before 7:00 am with very little sleep much less rest! It was multi-tasking at its best!

Nonetheless, when I finally sat down with my cup of freshly brewed coffee to devote to quiet time with the Lord; He spoke to my heart. As I looked out my back window, I saw them. This time, however there were more than the usual five or six. Happily, and noisily they were fluttering on the deck eating to their hearts content. I sat there in silence, watching them in their joy; no worries, no stressing, just contentment and bliss!

“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” Jesus was teaching about worry! Matthew 6:26-27
As I read this I could hear his voice in my heart, “Just practice what you teach. What kept you up, last night was worrying about that which you cannot fix. You have done and are doing what you can and should do. That is suffice. Be hopeful in me! Trust me! I’m right there with you! I know your heart’s desires! I have heard your pleas. I will respond. Just wait and wait patiently, and just as I provide for these birds you see, I will provide and answer you.”

What more could I possibly want? This assurance is real for me and for you. God will provide. God will answer. God is faithful. God is in control. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
