Can’t Move Forward Without the Backward…

Do you believe that God is in control of your life? I certainly do! Quite honestly, I want Him in control of my life. It doesn’t bother me one iota to have relinquished myself to Him. My life has been joyful as a result of doing that. Sometimes, I am amazed when I really stop to think about how some folks move on with their life; working to have this and achieve that and continuously moving on without rest or without truly enjoying life for what it’s purpose is all about.
We need to stop and get a grip on what the priorities of life are all about. This, of course doesn’t just happen to the world outside of the faith. Unfortunately, it happens in the world within the faith. Lives are shattered, torn, disrupted and truly unhappy because the focus is off the true purpose of living. People refuse to allow God deeply within their hearts. Their relationship with Him is just a token; this helps appease some of their hurt and unhappiness.

Solomon gives practical counsel and in the 6th chapter of Ecclesiastes he talks about a variety of things: the right attitude about God helping us deal with injustices, prosperity isn’t always a good thing and adversity isn’t necessarily always a bad thing. But, God is always good. He’s the same, ” yesterday, today and forever.” If we live accordingly to His plan for us, we will live contentedly!

In verse 10, Solomon writes, “Whatever exists has already been named, and what humanity is has been known; no one can contend with someone who is stronger.”

Simply put, God is in control. It is He that knows! It is He that directs! It is He that guides! It is He that helps! It is He!

Sometimes it doesn’t seem that He is in control, but believe me, He is. How many times have I confronted the Lord in my ignorance and asked Him the why of things when I have no right to really know…I just need to trust!

It is simply a foolish thing for me to make any frivolous attempt to contest God. Why argue? Why dispute? Why tangle with issues I cannot control? And, why should you? In discussing issues with God, I have found it does help release the deeply embedded stresses within and then I can rest. But, true rest comes when I let it go and let God move and guide. All I do is trust!

God knows each one of us so extensively! He molds and changes and remakes if needed. The Lord said through the prophet Jeremiah, “‘Can I not do with you, Israel, as the potter does? Like clay in the hand of the potter, so you are in my hand, Israel.'” Jeremiah 18:6

God is the creator! Thus, He has the control over the created object. How simple is that? My initial question to you, “Do you believe that God is in control of your life?” still stands. Is He in full control or do you still have some yielding to do? In all honesty, this is a question we need to confront daily! How blessed we are to know the Lord and have the opportunity to yield and let Him guide us to a life of joy and peace. I cannot do it without Him, can you?
