Joy In Life!

Most of us want success. We want recognition for what we’ve accomplished. We work most of our life to accomplish those goals we set before us years ago. And, we work hard to attain them. That’s how we find Solomon’s kingdom. Israel, when Solomon was its king was at its golden age; its best of times!
Solomon however, wanted the people to understand that success and prosperity do not last long. The Psalmist wrote: “for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.”

God examines your life and mine and He doesn’t forget the human condition. We are weak, but He will help us and will do so with love and compassion. Our devotion and life to Him will bring successes and satisfaction we never dreamed of!

Isaiah wrote: “A voice says, ‘Cry out.’ And I said, ‘What shall I cry?’ All the people are like grass and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fell, but the word of our God endures forever.”

We are mortal, but God’s Word is eternal. It stands forever. The world changes, the generations come and go but His Word remains. In it, we will find our success!

The Apostle James wrote, “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a dust that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

Life is short. And, it doesn’t matter how many years we live. Some of us live as we have forever to do so! We focus so much more on that which matters little when we face the end of our life. Live for God! That, in itself is true success!

All our human successes will one day be gone. Solomon in his book of Ecclesiastes advises to keep in mind that earthly goals and successes are “meaningless.”

It is only the quest of God that will bring us that, which we seek…full satisfaction and joy in life!
