Wisdom Changes Our Lives!

Solomon wrote, “I said to myself, ‘Look, I have increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.’ Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind. For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.'”
Solomon simply realized that the more he knew and understood; the more pain and hardship he experienced. He asked God for wisdom, but, that wisdom also caused him distress when he realized that the people he ruled didn’t care about his wisdom. They created their own problems and basically weren’t interested in becoming wise and knowledgeable enough to avoid troubling situations in life.

The more Solomon knew, the more imperfection he observed. This is true with us. The more knowledge and wisdom we acquire we “see” more evidence of the impact of evil in people’s lives. It creates sadness that many are unwilling to relent and serve God. They are satisfied with their way of living.

Here, Solomon is simply saying that when human knowledge ignores God it emphasizes our problems. And, it’s basically because it can’t give answers without God’s eternal frame of reference and his answers.

People don’t care to know. And, for this reason it is important that we seek to understand and study His word to know. This is an important part of developing a relationship with God and getting to know Him all the more for increase in faith, trust and obedience.

How can a believer even think to live for God without increasing wisdom and knowledge of Him and in Him? We need this to have a changed life in Him! The Psalmist wrote, “Blessed is the one whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.”

Solomon wrote in Proverbs, “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding , for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”

This type of wisdom changes lives and that’s because it comes from God. Solomon also wrote, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

Job 28:28 “And he said to the human race, ‘The fear of the Lord- that is wisdom, and to shun evil, is understanding.'”

I desire God’s approval of my life, and I also know I cannot have it if I fail to study and meditate on His Word constantly. It is a major piece of life in God. Solomon describes this well. Wisdom in and from God will change our life. It’s a given from God. I encourage you to make it a daily part of your life; sadly without it, is demise.
