Live For His Honor And Glory!

God is steadfast. We can rely on Him. All that He promises, he brings to fruition. It happens and we must wait on him. God was , God is and God will be, eternal. The oldest Psalm written by Moses says, “Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”
Moses continues, “You turn people back to dust, saying, ‘Return to dust, you mortals.’ A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.”

Here Moses reminds us that a thousand years are like a day to the Lord. God has no limits and time certainly does not limit him. The fact that the years go by and the world doesn’t seem to get better can be discouraging to our hearts. We can even ask God, “Why doesn’t it get better, Lord? How long does it take to make things better?”

We are mortal and limited in our being and thinking, and understanding. But, God is not. He is not restricted by time as we know it. He is eternal. He is forever. And, because of that, we can rely and trust Him!

In verse eight of the same Psalm, Moses wrote, “You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.” Think about it! God knows everything about us. He knows our sins as if they were just openly spread before him. He knows our secrets. And, yet, He still cares and loves you and I. There is absolutely no need to hide from him. On the contrary we have every opportunity to come before him, talk honestly and fully with him. He will listen and he will respond! He is more than amenable and so willing to forgive, if we are but willing to repent.

These thoughts alone should encourage us to freely and unreservedly talk and share and ask and explain, and tell and above all listen!

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Life is much too short. The years come and go. This truth should help us realize the importance of using the little time we have more carefully and for the better good of ourselves and the world around us. It should encourage us to focus and perhaps even rearrange our priorities!

When we focus on the “number of our days” and prioritize the full purpose of our unique and only life; things change, and things happen. The clarity of who we are all about truly reveals itself to each one of us.

The world we live in is imperfect, we are imperfect but one day we will see the perfection God has planned for us. I long spiritedly sometimes to see it and know that God has placed that ache and longing in me. This encourages my soul in its utmost weariness to live my numbered days for His honor and glory! Oh, I can’t express it enough, but my God is good!
