Don’t Lose Heart!

Whoever thought that the Christian life entails hard work? It does. After all, we work against the enemy of our soul. We need to keep our eye on the Lord and keep him in sight at all times. It’s straightforward when all is going well and life is bliss. However, it is when we face those hardships that discourage us to no end that it is easier “to lose sight of the bigger picture.”
The good thing to know when faced with discouragement is we are not alone; God is there. There is help. He is more willing to help us and provide the wherewithal we need to encourage and strengthen us then we are to ask Him.

God is approachable and He listens. I know this from my own personal hardships and heartaches. I look back and can actually feel some of the heartache and see how it was calmed and soothed. It was by “listening to His voice and holding fast to Him.”

He saw me through all and continues to do so when I call on him. Today I brought my heavy heart before him and again he soothed my sadness. The scripture I read in Hebrews tells me, “don’t grow weary and lose heart.” Those are the words that leaped at me as I read and I thought, “I surrender this ache to you, Lord.”

Many have gone through so much and have endured their hardships and have grown stronger in life. And, I know they have endured far more difficult circumstances than I have. Hardships, loss, and pain are difficult at best to bear and experience but I have found that they develop our patience and trust in Him so ultimately our final victory is harmonious and sweet.

I thank God that He is right by my side as I work through this time. “The eternal God is your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you.” Deuteronomy 33:27 I truly feel those everlasting arms enveloping me at this moment. Blessed be the Name of the Lord!
