“Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.” The question is asked, who are we? Those of us who serve the Lord? “Who am I and how do I serve the Lord?” I ask myself. “How do I live it?” I ask myself. “In all these years, have I truly grown?” I ask myself. Again, I’m in reflection mode. But, quite honestly, that’s a good thing. As a believer, I need to keep myself “in check.” It would be disastrous, if I didn’t, trust me, I know! I want God’s instruction. I need it for my continual growth. And, although I don’t necessarily like the discipline instruction entails, I do enjoy the enlightenment in my life, when I really “see” it. Don’t you?
David continues; “They will spend their days in prosperity, and their descendants will inherit the land. The Lord is a friend to those who fear him; he teaches them his covenant.”
The ability to recognize true prosperity as God defines it; is lifelong learning. It’s amazing how one changes the perspective of true prosperity as God sees it during seasons of restrictions. I certainly have had to change mine; quickly. Even during the times I just wanted to “throw in the towel.”
God loves us and is a real friend. He teaches and will discipline if necessary in the instruction. If we see it for what it truly is we thrive and mature in our learning. I believe, there’s a lesson behind all we go through. The problem however, is that many times we don’t recognize it as such. The result of that in my experience has been immature attitudinal living.
“My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare of my enemies.” Psalm 25:12-15
We need to experience the instruction to be released from “the snare of the enemy.” Oh, he’s out there alright; waiting and lurking for the opportune moment to trap us! Unbelievers mock this but they’re so entrapped they can’t do any differently.
But we can!
Keep your eyes on the Lord, always!
