Remember, O Lord

“O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you , my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.”
David spoke about enemies in many of his Psalms. He referred not just to physical enemies but enemies of our heart. These are those that defile, betray and enter surreptitiously within us. He continues; “No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.” As I read this, I thought, there are those times that we can deceive ourselves and we must carefully remove ourselves from the deception. The challenge is recognizing it. But, if we totally entrust our life to the Lord we will recognize and avoid the duplicity altogether.

“Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” In reading this portion, the question came to mind. Have you ever been involved in a task or sitting comfortably perhaps resting and a thought or person comes to mind? I call these moments; “God moments.”

These are the moments that God is speaking to my heart. I begin to ask Him, “What is it that you’d like to share with me at this moment?” I wait, and sometimes it’s a thought about a decision I am trying to make or a person that I hadn’t thought about and perhaps needs prayer. Or it can be a scripture thought that I had been reading. But, when I receive these moments I converse with God and I am at peace. This is what I sense as “putting my hope in Him all day long.”

Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. Psalm 25: 1-7

No, I don’t want God to remember my rebellion! I want Him to remember me in His “unfailing love!”
