Uproot It!

I pulled, yanked, extracted, jerked, plucked, uprooted, dragged and heaved bags full of weeds yesterday morning and early afternoon and had a great workout.
And, this morning the kinks in my worn muscles and joints in my hands and legs tell me I just may have overdone it! My entire body is flashing red signals telling me “Rest, Rest, Rest!

But the interesting point for me is that although I do feel the physical results of working the muscles I am thankful that I can still go out and exert them. I am glad that I can do this and see the results of my physical labor. The yard is beginning to look like someone does in fact care for it.

As I pull and fight the weed that sometimes refuses to cooperate I charge to pull it in the Name of the Lord; and it relents. Does it sound ridiculous? Perhaps to some, but for me if my strength fails I call on His!

I’ve learned that even as I do something like yard cleaning or weed pulling (simplistic stuff) if you will, I can think about the Lord and his way of living and mine.

I have gained perceptivity, understanding and even common sense and its comprehension from simple but laborious tasks. And, they help me make decisions I may have pending and remind me that perhaps there’s something in my heart, that I must pull and uproot and simply get rid of.

And, as I work “my heart is glad, and I rejoice.” And what’s more, “my body also will rest secure” God won’t abandon me, absolutely not, on the contrary, “He will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of his presence and the pleasures of living with him forevermore.”

There’s a lesson to be learned in all we do, and joy to be found if we seek it through!

Living with the Lord at our side is invaluable and we are fortunate to know it and live it!
