The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24
When I read this scripture it made me think of how many times I have held my toddler grandson’s hand as we walk and he has stumbled but not fallen because I have been holding his hand. My strength has held him up and eliminated some serious injuries.
Such is the strength of the Lord.
I can see the Lord in my mind as I walk through my daily life and I can think of some of those junctures where I have actually stumbled but held on without falling. I’d like to believe it is because the Lord still holds my hand. I haven’t let it go and I really do not plan to do so.
Life would certainly be totally different without the Lord’s direction of my steps. It is also a warm feeling to know that he delights in every detail of my life. I like to share my thoughts with Him and let him know how I feel about the circumstances I go through. I don’t hesitate to share my disappointments either because he reminds me that he is there and feels my pain, my heartache as he does all of my joys and happiness.
Life would certainly be a blur without his guiding my steps and without his holding my hand. God doesn’t abandon those who love him and live for him; on the contrary he keeps us safe… forever!
