And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. But the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him you will find him. But if you forsake Him, he will reject you forever. So take this seriously. The Lord has chosen you to build a Temple as his sanctuary. Be strong, and do the work. 1 Chronicles 28:9
It is unfathomable to really grasp the gravity of God knowing each one of us. The scripture notes that He sees every heart; thus he can pierce it and distinguish every plan and thought that each one of us has had, has and will have.
How impressive is that? David was giving His son, Solomon advice that was timely. He also told him that he had to take this task seriously.
For those of us who serve the Lord, this advice of yesteryear is timely as well . All that we are and do for God should be taken seriously. God has chosen us to build our inner Temple as his sanctuary.
This is not done through frivolous living, by any means. I certainly do not want God to reject me because of second hand living for Him. He is first. It is his strength that provides the wherewithal to keep living for him.
“Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly. Psalm 28:29
Just as David advised Solomon referencing the Temple of the Lord; the advice applies to us as we build the Temple of the Lord within us. We won’t fail as long as we seek the Lord to guide us.
